FBI Watches Occupy. Congress Sworn In, Sandy Aid Uproar..
According to the Center for Media and Democracy’s PR Watch site, Freedom of Information Act data gathered by D.B.A. Press, reveals that the FBI was keeping tabs on the north and central Florida Occupy movement. Particularly the Tampa and Gainesville, groups. They seem to have been concerned about the ability of the Occupy people to disrupt normal business activities and embarrass bankers in particular. Interesting that the FBI will ignore serious criminals to worry about embarrassed bankers. They claim to have been seeking terrorist sleeper cells, as if serious terrorists would be involved in protests like Occupy.

Republicans in the Northeast were up in arms over the way House Speaker Boehner neglected to bring an aid bill for the Sandy victims before Congress Tuesday night. He shelved it in deference to his fiscal hawks in the Republican party, it also is a sign of how little influence Northeastern republicans have in their party. Boehner later promised to bring an aid bill up on Friday, not the generous Senate bill but some partial aid and the rest by Jan 15th, this was to assuage people like Governor Christie of New Jersey who cried foul. Later Wednesday Boehner was reelected House Speaker in when the new Congress was sworn into office on Jan. 3. Republicans still hold the majority in the House 234 republicans to 201 democrats reflects a gain of 8 seats by the Democrats up from 193 in the last congress. The senate is controlled by the Democrats with 53 dems and 2 independents who caucus with the Democrats vis 45 republicans. House democrats are dominated by women and minorities while the republicans remain the domain of white men. There are 20 women in the Senate, the largest number ever.
