Senator Nelson held the Bill up to get free medicaid for his state of Nebraska for perpetuity. That means the rest of us pay for Nebraska’s medicare.
The Senate bill also includes a tax on union benefit plans if they are half way decent. That sucks. The House bill has a tax on the wealthiest population, that is the same as what the President campaigned on when he was running for president.
Tonight on MSNBC Congresswoman Maxine Walters said that she was ready to fight for the public option in the conference committee. But it didn’t seem like she was willing to fight very hard. Markos Moulitsas of the Daily Coast says we have to fight for whatever we can salvage out of this mess of a bill. Perhaps we can bring back the option to buy less expensive drugs from overseas. Obama was suggesting that and according Moulitsas we have to put pressure on the congress and the white house to get whatever we can for the people because if we don’t we will end up with just a bill that protects the insurance industry.
What does America deserve? Well remember how much people disliked Carter because he was such a do gooder, bumbling around with his Energy Department and Education Department? Remember that speech he gave us about being responcible and developing energy independence? Well we ignored him, we hated him. People turned to Ronald Reagan a failed B actor whose only claim to legitimacy was his call to make America stand tall again by pissing on the working people of you guessed it, America. What does America deserve now? Sarah Palin a failed fashion model and governor of the state where they still shoot bears. She has the same teflon tendencies as Reagan, she totaly trashed her former running mate, and she has a knack for telling big lies in such a cutesy maner. Only a gay woman hater would not vote for Sarah. So America get ready. Obama goes down in flames in 2012 and Palin wins. The USA gets the reactionary no nothing president it deserves and a bonus, the first female pinhead president. What more can we ask for. I can hardly wait for the Death Panel queen when she puts on the presidential tiara and we all sing, here she comes Ms America er all hail the queen. After all her personal life is about as good as it gets, witness her tit for tat with David Letterman over her daughters out of wedlock children. Not that I am in favor of marriage, hell, that institution was invented to protect rich people’s property rights.
Sarah Palin represents the sort of soap opera reality TV version of the world that seems to be popular here in America. Sarah Palin, when she quit her job as governor, must have been on some pretty good drugs to pull that off without noticing the irony of a quitter saying she is not a quitter. But who cares, she is cute and America’s darling.
